Get To Know Air Source Heat Pump
An air source heat pump is basically a heat pump that makes use of outside air to produce heat or even to sink heat. It can be easily found in the compressor, refrigerant and condenser system that operates to both absorbing and releasing heat. Generally, outside air that exists higher than absolute zero temperature is called a heat container. This pump transfers a portion of the heat to provide household needs like hot water and room heating.
There are three main components in an air-source heat pump, which are heat exchanger, compressor and also radiators. The heat exchanger is usually used to extract heat from the air and supply them indoor. As for the compressor, it has similar function as refrigerator but the process is reversed. In a refrigerator, the compressor is used to decrease the temperature inside the refrigerator but for this pump, it increases the temperature to produce heat. Lastly, the radiator acts as a medium that allow the heat to be transferred from the outside air into hot water tank or the heating system.
The operation of air source heat pump is accomplished by shifting a refrigerant through the heat pump’s coil and components. The compressor in this heat pump will change the states of refrigerant from cold liquid into hot gas and vice versa. When liquid refrigerant is at low temperature goes through the evaporator coil, the temperature in the outside is very high hence making the liquid changes state into hot gas. However, this process requires a certain amount of energy or a more specific term, ‘latent heat’. On the other hand, if the vapor of the hot gas enters the condenser heat exchanger coils, it will begin to transfer heat to the air that is drawn across the coil. As this stage, condensation happens and hot gas changes its form back to cold liquid.
