What You Should Use When Ice Diving
When we think of unusual things to do we usually picture ourselves sky diving or white water rafting. Something that we don't usually picture ourselves doing is plunging into a freezing ocean! Ice diving is similar to scuba diving except that it is freezing and the creatures are immensely different. Though not a lot of individuals have the wish to do this it is still a popular pursuit. In order to do this the right way and safely you must have the right equipment with you.
Dry Suit
The dry suit will be one of the more crucial things that you have secured to you when under the water. This is designed to extend over your whole body except for the head or hands. You should find a hood and gloves for this. The suit is designed to keep the body dry and slightly warm. Still, the majority of individuals will still need to wear several layers beneath it for added warmth.
Regulator
While the suit helps to keep your nice and warm the regulator is used to keep you breathing when under the water. This will come with a big oxygen tank that is fastened to your back. The air is delivered to you through a mask that is placed over your mouth. These are quite pricey - but they are made to give you the amount of air you need for various types of dives.
Mask
The mask is one of the more inexpensive ice diving gear that you will need. However, you should be meticulous about what you choose. Ensure that it fits snugly - but not too tightly. This is going to be your eyes when under the surface so you will be able to see where you swim and take in the beauty that is all around you.

Can anyone recommend an inexpensive diving mask for an adult?
I'd like to have an inexpensive diving mask to wear so I can scrub the sides of my pool. I don't like goggles!
If you asked your question on the divers' online forum ScubaBoard, you might get as many as thirty answers, each one recommending a different mask. People tend to suggest a piece of equipment that suits them because they don't have the necessary information to make a reasoned recommendation on behalf of somebody else.
Diving mask manufacturers only make their individual masks in one size and then their sales departments claim their "one size fits all". Experience says otherwise, because human faces don't come in one size, some are broad, others are narrow. Unlike fins, there's no standard size when it comes to a diving mask, so forget about brands and models and resign yourself to trying on diving masks until you find one that fits. You will get the best, and possibly the cheapest, range of options online, but you won't be able to try it on before purchase, so look for an online retailer who will accept the return and exchange of goods.
A good source of diving masks is a reputable diving or sporting goods store. When you go there, test how well each mask fits by placing the inside against your face without attaching the strap. Breathe in lightly through your nose to create a slight vacuum and see whether the mask remains on your face without support. If it does, you may have a reasonable fit. Try and find a mask with a soft silicone or rubber skirt, with a feathered edge, which will be more comfortable than one with a hard edge. Make sure that the mask has the wherewithal to pinch your nose so that you can clear your ears underwater, where atmospheric pressure is greater:

I haven't mentioned my favourite mask, partly because it's no longer available and partly because it fits my face perfectly but not necessarily anyone else's. It's a Typhoon Super Star which my parents gave me as a birthday present in the 1960s, shown here in an old catalogue:
