The New Free HP Slate

The new HP slate tablet PC, now on the market, is everything it was made out to be. It is powered by a 1.86GHz Intel Atom Z540 and marketing to the business professional. It is equipped with 2 GB of RAM I 64 GB of SSD this tablet PC buying power to complete most computer applications.

The HP slate comes with an 8.9 inch touch display. The runs Windows 7 professional and has Wacom N-Trig active digitizer for taking notes. This feature alone sets it apart from other Windows 7 tablets, allowing users to easily take notes, write letters or complete projects. The HP slate is somewhat different from its competition. It has a front facing VGA cam and a 3 megapixel camera on the back. However, the HP Slate does not have 3G, but instead is equipped with Wi-Fi. There is plenty of room for storage and the stylus pen makes it easy to use. For most of us, unless we have the chance of acquiring an HP slate free, this may mean digging deep into our pockets.

Professional reviews for the free HP Slate are mixed. Some users see it well worth its price tag while others say there is something left to be desired, and that the HP slate's features are not enough to warrant the extra few hundred dollars being asked. However, HP states, that it is not targeting the same market as iPad, and instead, markets the slate to the business buyer. Still, the HP Slate can be found on the HP website for anyone to purchase. Although, because this is a new product on the market a select few still have the opportunity to test and try a free HP slate.

In general, most experts say that as a tablet device the free HP Slate cannot compete with other tablets like the iPad or the Galaxy S. They say the price, weight, and operating system make other comparable PC's seem more attractive. Put alongside other tablets the HP slate could be disappointing. On the other hand, other and experts say that the HP Slate 500 is a very nice tablet, and has better usability features. This is a lightweight, sturdy computing device with an industrial design and features that are more advantageous than those of the iPad.

Ultimately, the decision to purchase the HP Slate is dependent on what is going to be used for. While the iPad may be recommended for more personal use, the HP Slate may be a more recommended option for business use.
